”It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.”
-Psalm 118:8
A while back I was talking to a friend and she asked me, “How are you always so confident?” Had she asked me this a couple of years ago I probably would’ve given her some “fake it til you make it” mumbo jumbo. But this time, my answer was different. It’s not that I'm confident, it's about who my confidence is in: God.
I simply told her, “To be really honest, I’m not confident. I’m GODFIDENT!”
My self-confidence may falter, but that’s when Godfidence comes in. As a human there’s only so much we can do on our own. But when we put our faith, trust and confidence in God, there’s no limit to what He can do for us, in us and through us. Being Godfident isn’t about seeing ourselves through our own eyes, but to truly see ourselves the way God sees us.
Back when I had the whole “fake it til I make it” attitude about life, it was truly physically, mentally and spiritually exhausting. Nothing ever seemed to work out for me. Every day was a struggle simply because I was trying to do things my way, in my own strength and with my own “confidence." I don’t remember exactly when my Godfidence kicked in, but once it did I felt like a whole new person! Don’t get me wrong, there are days that my self-confidence may not be that great and I may be feeling down, but that doesn’t change the fact that my confidence is in God.
As we grow in our relationship with Jesus we have to understand that our confidence doesn’t come from how we perceive ourselves, how others perceive us, or even in our abilities to “fake it til we make it.” Our confidence comes from God and our confidence is in God.

REFLECT
What are some areas in your daily life that you should rely on God for versus relying on your own strength?
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being my anchor and rock when it comes to confidence. I may not always be able to be confident in myself or the things that are going on in my life. But you are always faithful and I know that I can have confidence in You and Your plans. Please help to calm my mind and to grow my confidence in You as I go about my day.
Please guide me in all that I do.
Amen.
