”Jesus spoke to them again: ‘I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.’”
-John 8:12
Christmas is hands down my favorite time of the year. Family time, food, cozy fireplaces, colder (kinda - if you’re in TX) weather…and did I mention the food?? But my all time favorite thing about this time of the year are the Christmas lights! I patiently wait until it’s time to plug in our Christmas lights every evening…I could ride around for hours and hours just admiring all the Christmas lights. Thousands upon thousands of tiny little Christmas lights light up yards and neighborhoods. It amazes me how such tiny, little lights can shine so BRIGHT!
You and I are a lot like Christmas lights. We all have this light inside of us just shining away…or patiently waiting to shine!
For most people Christmas time is such a happy and exciting time of the year! But it isn’t the case for some. Whether it’s struggling with money to purchase gifts or deciding if that money should be used to pay a bill or buy a gift, or perhaps someone is experiencing their first holiday without a loved one…whatever the case may be, it may not always the holliest, jolliest time for everyone. As we all go about life over the next couple of weeks, I challenge you to be the light in someone else’s life.
That doesn’t mean you have to talk about Jesus to every stranger you encounter, but you certainly can! But when I say to be the light, it simply means the way we behave or speak. Behave and speak in such a way that strangers see the light of Jesus in you. I believe in your heart you will know what you need to do…maybe it’s tipping your waitress a little extra or giving that person on the corner a hot meal or a few bucks, maybe it’s helping an elderly person with their groceries. Wherever you feel led to do, follow that feeling and be the light to someone this Christmas season.
You never know what battle someone is facing.
You never know what someone is struggling with.
You never know how a simple act of kindness can impact their day or life.
So many beautiful lights and one power source - JESUS! We all have His light in us and we all shine in different ways. Don’t be afraid to let your light shine to help brighten up someone else’s world!
Go Be The Light!

Look for opportunities each day to be the light in someone else's life , even if it’s a simple smile.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, help guide me to see the divine appointments throughout my day to be a light to others. Please help me to slow down and not miss these moments that could greatly impact someone else’s life. Thank you for the precious gift of Jesus and for the light He provides to my life. Please be with me and my loved ones this Christmas season. Please be with those who are struggling and in pain.
In Jesus Holy name I pray.
Amen.
